International Women's Day 2025 March and Rally

International Women's Day 2025 March and Rally

San Antonio has a long history of celebration International Women's Day. This Year is our 35th consecutive march and marks 40 years since this radical tradition began in the city. Our theme this year is "Tu lucha es mi lucha - forward ever backwards never." It represents solidarity from the local to the international , as we all are facing the intensification of fascism in our society and into our daily lives.

More and more, we are identifying our importance as people, the masses, the ones who make this city, state, nation, and world run. At the same time, we see that our labor is not enough to guarantee our rights. We struggle to make ends meet, our so-called democracy has revealed itself as a lose-lose, with the two dominant parties shifting ever to the right.

Palestine is still suffering a genocide, as the war expands to Lebanon, Syria, and threatens the entire West Asia region. Our tax dollars are spent by the trillions each year on wars violating the sovereignty of other countries and causing havoc on our planet. Prioritizing death and destruction over the uplift of our people.

Locally our tax dollars are wasted on sports stadiums for teams owned by millionaires and billionaires (Graham Weston and Peter Holt). The rich prefer to spend our money rather than their own wealth, precisely because they have our city leaders in their pocket. These expensive projects prioritize sports stadiums over fixing solving the housing crisis, ensuring all of our children have food, and keeping our water and lights on. In Texas, we are denied access to abortions, while immigrant families, LGBTQ , Trans siblings are demonized and attacked! All of this while defunding and degrading our public institutions, turning them over to the highest bidders.

We must not despair! We have fought and won before and we must again claim what is ours!

This IWD we stand united saying, "Your Struggle is My Struggle!" We need each other, and we need a unity capable to unleash the power, the anger, and indeed, the love that we the working class and oppressed people have historically. Our unity in struggle is what has raised our consciousness and sparked building collectively rather than individually - even igniting revolutions! We must make IWD every day, our struggle does not end until our people win!

This is a rally cry for you to save the date and be there March 8th - Rain, Snow, or Shine. March with us, taking our public streets, through public parks, and demonstrating our collective power, to make San Antonio a city for the people once and for all! United against rapacious war and imperialism, callous displacement, and gentrification. Standing up for peace and prosperity for out people everywhere!
